Book Four pre-order is ready to go!

Like the headline says, you can now pre-order Book Four of The Clan-Vampire Clash series. I have a working title that I'll share once it's finalized, and I'll be ordering the cover shortly.

You might notice that the release date is set for October 2020. There's a 99.9% chance that Book Four will be released months before this date. I'm currently targeting mid-2020 for its release, but given that I'm in the depths of editing now, I wanted to give myself a bit of buffer. Okay, a lot of buffer. :p

But that's the beauty of pre-orders: order now and you'll get an email from Amazon when Book Four is ready to read on your kindle/kindle app regardless of how much I move the date up. If this launch ends up like the others, you'll also receive your digital copy a few days before everyone else.

Pre-order Book Four of The Clan-Vampire Clash series now!

October 2019 goals + new ninety-day goals

written by Betsy Flak on 2019-09-30

Here we are again. Another month gone, which means it's time for the monthly goals post. This one's a biggie, since it's time for the quarterly update too.

So, sit down, grab your beverage of choice (mine's a lime La Croix), and settle in.

As usual, I'll update the progress on September's goals, then back off to the ninety-day goals from July through September (as shown in July's goals), then set new ninety-day goals for October through December, and finally set new goals for October.

I'm on vacation! And so is the blog.

written by Betsy Flak on 2019-09-12

Like the title says, I'm on vacation. This one's long weekend to play all the roller derby! As such, I'll be away from my computer a bunch, so I'm putting the blog on vacation too. Regular posts will resume on Friday, September 20th.

*No, that isn't me in the gif above. Although, I have been known to do my best impersonation of this move when forced to wear the star and be the jammer.

Three magic academy books to try

written by Betsy Flak on 2019-09-09

Lately, I've been getting into magic academy books, which seems to be the latest hot new sub-genre within the larger fantasy space and especially within paranormal romance and urban fantasy. So, I thought I would share my three favorites with you!

A few quick disclaimers before we get into it. First off, I haven't dipped my toes into the whole reverse harem scene. I'm a "one true love" type of gal, so reverse harem hasn't struck my fancy. I'm not saying I'll never read it. It's just not high on my list. Secondly, I've only been reading the most popular titles so far. So, it is entirely possible that I'm late to the game with these picks. C'est la vie, I guess.

Oberon Academy Book One: The Orphan by Wendi Wilson

  • In a nutshell: Dark fairies have taken over the world to save the planet from climate change. But who can save humanity from the dark fairies? A young adult magic academy tale with sweet romance.
  • Series Name and Number of Books: Oberon Academy, 4 books (as of the date of this post)

Supernatural Academy: Year One by Jaymin Eve

  • In a nutshell: Twenty-two-year-old Maddison finds out she's a supernatural and is thrust into an academy with shifters, vampires, magic users, and the fey. But something's blocking her abilities and super-hot Asher wants to find out what. Recommended for 17+. More swearing and steamier than Oberon Academy.
  • Series Name and Number of Books: Supernatural Academy, 2 books (as of the date of this post)

Darkblood Academy: Book One: Half-Blood by G.K. DeRosa

  • In a nutshell: Half-human, half-witch Luna ends up at Darkblood Academy, thanks to her bio-dad pulling some strings (he's never been around). Now, she's supposed to join shifters, fae, witches, and vampires to save humanity from demons. Recommended for 16+ with steaminess increasing through the course of the series.
  • Series Name and Number of Books: Darkblood Academy, 3 books (as of the date of this post)
