Today something a little different: my thoughts as I tramp through the snow on a beautiful winter's day.
Technically, it's my thoughts from two different days this winter.
Day One: A sunny winter's day far warmer than usual.
The crunch of the snow beneath my feet, the rich, tangy scent of the woods even in the winter, the bite of the wind through my thin, perhaps-inappropriate-for-45-degrees leggings, even the slips of my sneakers over the frozen slush, I love it all. I love walking in the woods in the winter.
Day Two: The day after getting about eight inches of snow over the course of twenty-four hours or so. Cold (probably in the mid-20s degrees Fahrenheit) but also beautiful!
There’s something so refreshing about going on a cold winter’s walk. The frigid air biting my cheeks and clearing my lungs, the sun (for it is indeed a rare sunny winter’s day today) reflecting off the snow making the day even brighter, it’s all lovely. (Or as my not-so-favorite F1 driver would say, “Simply lovely.")
And that's it! My thoughts as I walk through the woods in Michigan in winter. And yeah, these thoughts will almost certainly make it into my books or shorts one way or another in the future.
Oh and here's a pic of me on that Day Two walk above. ☺️
