Here are my thoughts as I walk through the woods on a hot summer's day (about 90°F and humid here in Michigan).
And yes, these thoughts are likely to make it into one of my books or short stories in the future. I love drawing on my real-life experiences even if I only write fantasy filled with magic and danger!
Oh how I love the summer. The pungent smell of a fertile forest, rich and earthy and welcoming, so different but just as delightful as winter's crisp, cold, fresh perfumes. My feet sinking into wood chips softened by heat. The cicadas and their siren song. The whine of mosquitoes—wait, that's not right!
Cue me running away from and swatting at that mosquito.
And getting bitten anyway. 😂
But no regrets!
Here's a pic of me from this hot, mosquito-ridden walk.
